Oxygen Therapy Administration (RQF)

Who the course is for…

Qualified First Aiders, Emergency First Aiders, dental practitioners and professionals, nurses, healthcare professionals and others working in an environment where oxygen is available for casualty welfare.

Skills you will take away…

This training enables the learner to administer oxygen safely and effectively, for casualties with breathing difficulties. Trainees will learn how and when to administer oxygen to a casualty and the safety concerns with carrying, storing and administering it.

What you will learn…

• To explain the benefits of oxygen therapy

• Identify indications for the use of oxygen

• To explain contraindications prohibiting the use of oxygen

• About the dangers of using compressed gas

• To outline health and safety rules for the use, storage and handling of oxygen

• How to carry out operational checks in preparation for use of oxygen therapy equipment

• To identify when oxygen therapy is required

• How to administer oxygen using the required flow rate for different delivery devices (non-rebreather mask and bag, valve and mask)

To do this course you will need…

A willingness to learn about oxygen therapy, and to use that knowledge and skills if the need arises.

Physical ability to perform practical first aid activities, including CPR (please contact us if you wish to discuss this).
